The term slipped disc refers to a herniated disc. These small discs separate the vertebrae. When you move, they cushion them from rubbing against each other. Each disc has a fibrous outer shell and a soft semi-liquid substance inside. They act as little shock absorbers when the person walks, jumps or performs any other movement.
